Justin Trudeau makes campaign stop in Winnipeg

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has been out on the campaign trail and made a stop in Winnipeg Saturday.

Trudeau held a meet and greet with Winnipeg South Liberal candidate Terry Duguid in the afternoon, where he met with voters and talked about his party's platform heading into the next federal election.

Trudeau told the crowd that he thinks it is important to establish a connection with people from one end of the country to the other.

"That message of hope and hard work that each of you carry by simple dint of being here today, of being part of the extraordinary team that Terry [Duguid] has put together in Winnipeg South that is breaking records in terms of doors knocked on and conversations had because ultimately politics is just about how we come together," he said, adding speaking with voters one on one is essential for the party to win the next election.

Trudeau said he is optimistic his party can claim several seats in Manitoba.

"There is a lot of opportunity right across the country, but we've really felt here in Manitoba concentration of a desire for change highlighting the extraordinary local candidates we have, from community leaders like Terry [Duguid] or Jim Carr or Robert-Falcon Ouellette," Trudeau said.

Canadians head to the polls for Oct.19.
