Kate Beckinsale Reveals New Tattoo amid Hospital Stay and Anniversary of Father’s Death
The 'Underworld' actress shared a look at her latest inking on her Instagram Story
Kate Beckinsale has a new tattoo.
Over the weekend, the actress, 50, shared a look at the inking she had done on her upper arm featuring a bird and a message addressed to "My KB."
The tattoo was done by West Hollywood artist Endry Stymest, who didn't immediately respond when PEOPLE reached out for comment.
Beckinsale didn't go into further detail about the inking on her Instagram Story post, but did share a message about heading "off to a mythical land where people don't say dumb s--- like 'it was their time' in response to grief."
The post came after she remembered her late dad, Richard Beckinsale, with an emotional Instagram message featuring multiple throwback photos on Tuesday. Richard was just 31 when he died in 1979 of a heart attack. Beckinsale's stepfather Roy Battersby also died at age 87 on Jan. 10.
It's unclear if Beckinsale's new tattoo image was taken while she was in her hospital bed.
She first revealed she'd been admitted while sharing an Instagram post marking U.K. Mother's Day and her mom Judy's belated birthday on March 11, but hasn't yet revealed what she's being treated for.
Beckinsale's rep declined to comment last week when contacted by PEOPLE after the actress shared another selfie on her Instagram Story. While being treated in the hospital, the star has had visits from her beloved cat Willow and Pomeranian Myf.
The Van Helsing actress first sparked concern when she shared two teary-eyed photos of herself on Instagram among a carousel of snaps and videos. She mentioned being "sick" in the caption but didn't reveal any further information.
Beckinsale's latest inking sits above her forearm tribute to her late cat Clive. In August, she shared an image of the tattoo she had done featuring her beloved feline's face with a series of stars around it.
"This has really helped," the Underworld star wrote in the post's caption at the time, seemingly implying that the new ink had eased her grief.

"Thanks so much @_dr_woo," she added, tagging Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Docta Woo, known for his detailed animal designs.
Beckinsale announced Clive's death back in June with an emotional post.
