Keanu Reeves offers disappointing Constantine 2 update

John Wick: Chapter 4 spoilers follow.

Keanu Reeves has offered a disappointing update to his highly anticipated Constantine sequel following the recent DCU shake-up.

A sequel to the 2005 cult classic movie was announced back in 2022, reuniting Reeves with director Francis Lawrence.

However, shortly after DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, the future of Constantine 2 went into limbo, much like many other DC projects.

Earlier this year, fans were given a promising update when it was seemingly confirmed that the sequel had not been scrapped by Warner Bros Discovery.

It looks as though things may have taken yet another turn for the future of the sequel as Reeves has himself admitted that it may not happen.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, the John Wick star said that they are trying to move forward with plans to make the long-awaited sequel, but it's not looking promising.

"We're trying, I don't know if it's going to happen," Reeves said in the interview.

In the Hellblazer comics, Constantine famously sports a head of short blonde hair, when asked if he might go blonde to play the character this time around, Reeves said he played a different version of the character than in the comic, adding that he may not get to reprise the role at all.

"I don't know if I look good as a blonde," Reeves quipped. "Hopefully I get to do it, but I don't know."

Meanwhile, Reeves recently opened up about the shocking climax to John Wick: Chapter 4, in which his legendary assassin John Wick appears to pass away.

"For him to get his peace, or freedom, in a way... that was the reason to make the movie. It can't just be: 'Let's do another one.'"
