Keegan Spearchief, violent sex offender, wanted by police in southern Alberta

Police have issued a warrant for high-risk sex offender Keegan Spearchief after he failed to appear at court for sentencing.

The 29-year-old has a long history of breaching his probation orders.

At age 17, he became the first young offender in Canada sentenced as an adult under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

In June 2003, Spearchief sexually assaulted two women in separate attacks in Calgary. Three months later, he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl at knife-point.

Spearchief was released from prison in 2008 after serving four years for multiple sex attacks and break and enters.

He was arrested again in 2010 in Calgary and later served more than two years at the Grande Cache Institution before being released.

Police say he's known to frequent the Blood reserve and Calgary area.

Officials say the warning was issued after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns.

They say Spearchief is capable of causing significant harm to the health and safety of the public, especially adult women.
