Kelly Clarkson Debates Shower Etiquette with Kenan Thompson — and Reveals Her Go-To 'Productive' Habit
"Here's the thing. I don't regularly brush my teeth in the shower. I just do if I'm in a hurry. Now, I do happen to be in a hurry often," Kelly Clarkson admitted
Kelly Clarkson is holding nothing back when it comes to revealing her personal hygiene habits.
On Wednesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the songstress, 41, debated proper shower etiquette with guest Kenan Thompson — and admitted she has found some unique time-savers in her bathing routine.
"Here's the thing. I don't regularly brush my teeth in the shower. I just do if I'm in a hurry," the television personality told Thompson. "Now, I do happen to be in a hurry often."
"That's fine because that's where you're at in the world," Thompson, 45, replied. "I'm on the whole other side where I find it to be gross and I don't do it."

Thompson then noted he explains the importance of washing the entire body in his new memoir When I Was Your Age: Life Lessons, Funny Stories & Questionable Parenting Advice from a Professional Clown.
"I think there's another mention of like, maybe washing your legs in the shower,” he explained. “Get all the way, don't just leave your ankles out.”
Clarkson defended herself, saying, “But wait, when you're washing up here, it does wash down."
The Saturday Night Live star concluded they have “just different approaches to life,” adding, “it’s fine.”
The host then asked the “hard question” of whether the Kenan & Kel star pees in the shower. He responded, "I would lie if I said I had never done it, but I try not to."
Clarkson candidly admitted, "I pee almost every time in the shower."
“No, but you can't help it. It goes back to that childhood sleepover, they put your hand in the hot water, and sometimes you pee,” she added. “The hot water hits your body and — not every time, but, like, if I've gotta go."
The All That alum told Clarkson, "I'm not against it. I've not never done it. I've done it. But when I do do it, I always feel so ashamed.”
Despite Thompson’s assessment, Clarkson added, "You know what I feel — I feel productive.”

Clarkson and Thompson aren’t the first stars to discuss their showering habits.
In July, America Ferrera revealed her guilty pleasure during an interview with Vanity Fair, saying, “My guilty pleasure would be — I’m going to regret saying this — it’s not showering for a few days.”
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher — who share daughter Wyatt Isabelle, 9, and son Dimitri Portwood, 7 — revealed during a 2021 appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast that they don't believe in bathing their kids with soap every day.
"I didn't have hot water growing up as a child, so I didn't shower much anyway," Kunis said. "But when I had children, I also didn't wash them every day. I wasn't that parent that bathed my newborns — ever."
Host Dax Shepard then noted that he and wife Kristen Bell used to bathe daughters Lincoln, 10, and Delta, 8, every day as "part of a nighttime routine," but stopped when the kids got older.
"That's how we feel about our children," Kunis said.
Kutcher added, "Now, here's the thing: If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there's no point."
