Kelly Clarkson Just Gave the Best Dating Advice Amid Her Divorce

Kelly Clarkson didn't hold back when she gave a fan some tough love during a dating advice segment on her show.

During an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that aired on October 23, a fan revealed to Clarkson that she's stuck in DM limbo: “My crush only uses Instagram to message me and he sends me heart eyes emojis. He hasn’t asked for my number. How do I convince him to take our relationship to the next level and actually text?”

The singer and host quickly offered the woman her relationship expertise, noting that the man just might not be into her. “I have advice but I don't know if you want it,” Clarkson began.

“I don’t understand why you would want to be with someone that only does it in front of people, that’s my thing,” she said. “Like, if they’re only going to show you they care in front of people. You need to know what’s happening behind closed doors, not in front of the doors because that’s who you’re going to be with.” Yup!

Clarkson added, “And it kind of looks a little like He’s Just Not That Into You, that book. I don’t know, just a little, and that’s okay because we’ve all been there. It’s not just you.”

Clarkson's comments come after the host filed for divorce from husband Brandon Blackstockback in June. Though she hasn't gone into detail regarding what led to the couple's split, she did admit that “divorce is never easy.”

“Definitely didn’t see anything coming that came," the American Idol alum said during the season premiere of her talk show last month. “I’m usually very open, and I usually talk about everything, but in this case, I will talk a little bit here and there about how it affects me personally but probably won’t go too far into it because I’m a mama bear and my kids come first.”

She'll most likely address the divorce on her upcoming album, though. “This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I've ever released,” she revealed during her Sunday Today With Willie Geist interview back in September. “The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now.”

It's clear she has a lot more wisdom to share with us—and we can't wait to listen.
