Kelly Clarkson got engaged to talent manager Brandon Blackstock in December and the "Catch My Breath" singer has revealed how her beau popped the question.
In an interview with People, Kelly said she and her now-fiance were spending some down time at their home in Nashville when the big moment happened -- catching her completely off guard.
"Out of nowhere I just said, 'Thanks for being an awesome guy.' I've never been loved properly by a man, and I was just like, 'I thank you so much for that,'" she told the mag.
The original "American Idol" had no idea Brandon was about to ask her to marry him and was woefully underdressed.
"[I didn't have] a damn clue!" she said. "If I did I would have worn something besides Uggs and a sweatshirt with no bra!"
The couple is now planning their wedding, which Kelly said will be an "earthy" outdoor event in the fall.
Prior to dating her soon-to-be husband, Kelly said she had never in love before because she was looking for her soulmate in all the wrong places.
"I was dating skinny jeans and I needed Wranglers," she told the mag.
Adding, "I didn't know life could be this happy."
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Kelly announced her and Brandon's engagement via Twitter.
"I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)" she Tweeted at the time, later adding a photo of her engagement ring (which features a large, yellow canary diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds).
