Kelowna mom allegedly caught drunk driving

A Kelowna woman who allegedly drove drunk with her three-year-old child in the backseat has been released from police custody.

Police say 36-year-old woman was over two and a half times the legal limit when she crashed into a parked car on Wednesday.

Const. Kris Clark of Kelowna RCMP said she continued driving in the wrong lane with a flat tire, narrowly missing a police vehicle and another motorist before coming to a stop.

"The officer engaged her and she attempted to drive away, but he was able to put her vehicle into park and turn off the vehicle before she could do so," he said.

The child in the car was not injured and police believe the woman was on her way to pick up her other six-year-old child from school.

Both children were turned over to the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

The woman faces potential charges of impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident, said Clark
