Kendrys Morales' arsenal a surprise to everyone, including his catcher

It’s often a scramble for catchers between innings, but Luke Maile never had to move quicker.

The Toronto Blue Jays backup backstop just learned between innings that he would be catching slugger Kendrys Morales, who would take the bump to rescue an embattled bullpen, and needed a scouting report.

Morales told him he had four pitches: a fastball, curve, cutter and change-up.

“I go, ‘Okay, guy, like here we go. Yeah sure'” Maile told Nick Ashbourne and J.P. Arencibia on the “Digging in with J.P. Arencibia” podcast.

Sure enough, Morales showed off his extensive arsenal, and induced three fly-ball outs to complete a scoreless frame.

“It was definitely the highlight of the day,” said Maile.
