In honor of Prince George's birthday tomorrow, Kensington Palace has released an adorable new portrait of the young royal.

T"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new photograph of Prince George to mark his fifth birthday – thank you everyone for your lovely messages 🎈" reads a statement from the Palace, which was released alongside the photo on social media.

It was also shared on the Kensington Palace Twitter account at the same time:

This sweet snapshot, which was taken by Matt Porteous, appears to be from Prince Louis's christening celebration, bringing the total number of portraits released from the occasion up to six. (See the five other pictures, including the surprise candid of Duchess Kate with her young son right here.)

While Will and Kate have always released a photo of George on his birthday, there was some question as to whether royal fans would get one this year. Kensington Palace did not share a new picture of Princess Charlotte on her birthday back in May, breaking a longstanding tradition.

Instead, the Palace's social media accounts posted an old photo of Charlotte along with the caption: "Wishing a happy third birthday to Princess Charlotte–thank you all for your lovely messages!"

Given how busy the spring was for the royal family, with Prince Louis's birth and Prince Harry's wedding, it's likely they didn't want to overexposed young Charlotte. Now that things have calmed down a bit, they felt it was appropriate to share a new photo of the royal children.

At this point, it's unclear exactly how Prince George plans to celebrate his birthday, but rumor has it that all five Cambridges are on holiday on the island of Mustique, so perhaps he's spending it beachside. That said, nothing has been confirmed by the Palace.
