Kesha claps back at body-shamers with 'proud' bikini pics: 'Hate me harder, bitch'

"You're actually making me feel very powerful."

Kesha refuses to let the haters get her down.

On Sunday, the “We R Who We R” singer promoted self-love while clapping back at body-shamers on Instagram with photos of herself beachside in a black bikini.

"I didn’t think in 2024 people still body shamed,” she captioned the post, adding, “I am so proud of my body. She’s been through a lot. she’s torn her acl on stage and finished the show. She’s held my fucking broken heart together.”

Directly addressing the haters in question, she continued, "To those who think you’re shaming me, you’re actually making me feel very powerful. So, to you, I hope you one day feel whole enough to not tear other women down. In the mean time, hate me harder bitch:)”

Unfortunately, this is far from the first time that Kesha has squared off with unkind commenters. Back in 2016, she told those criticizing her body “F--- u,” while opening up about her journey with self-love.

“I have been battling depression and an eating disorder for a while now,” she wrote at the time, alongside a topless photo. “My career is in a strange place and it feels like I’m fighting an uphill fight some days. But I have decided to take my life back. My freedom. My happiness. My voice. My worth. I will not just f—ing be quiet and hide. Today I will say f— it and live.”

The popstar has continued to openly discuss her struggles with bulimia and an eating disorder, telling Rolling Stone in 2017 that, for years, she felt pressured to “be a certain size.”

She added, “I really just thought I wasn’t supposed to eat food and then if I ever did, I felt very ashamed, and I would make myself throw up because I’d think, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe I actually did that horrible thing. I’m so ashamed of myself because I don’t deserve to eat food.’ I was slowly, slowly starving myself. And the worse I got and the sicker I got, the better a lot of people around me were saying that I looked.”

After checking into an inpatient program to treat her bulimia in 2014, the “Tik Tok” singer began working with therapists and a nutritionist to create healthy routines. Just last year, Kesha told Self that she has come a long way since then.

“No one could have told me this 10 years ago, but… freedom from that obsession is there,” she said. “It takes work to get there. But sitting here knowing that I don’t count any calories, I don’t know what my pant size is and I don’t weigh myself is so beautiful.”

The singer is currently celebrating the release of her new single, “Joyride,” the first release since she settled a nearly decade-long legal battle against former producer, Dr. Luke a.k.a. Lukasz Gottwald.
