Kevin Ronald Brooks sought by Calgary police

Calgary police want the public's help in their search for a high-risk offender, who they believe may be in the Edmonton area.

Kevin Ronald Brooks got out of prison in June after serving seven years for manslaughter.

The 28-year-old is wanted for failing to comply with his bail conditions — like not residing at an approved location and failing to abide by a daily curfew check — as well as removing his electronic monitoring device.

"Officers attended his approved residence when an alarm sounded to indicate his monitoring device had been removed," said Calgary police in a release.

Police say Brooks has a history of violence.

"He has been violent against strangers, people known to him and peace officers," said police. "His past offences have been committed in Edmonton, Drumheller and Saint John, N.B."

Brooks is described as 160 pounds, six-feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He also has multiple tattoos, including one around his neck, and tear drops by the corner of his right eye.

"Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action," said police.
