Is your kid’s school ready for a disaster? SLO County education office wants input on risk plan
The San Luis Obispo County Office of Education is seeking community feedback on a plan to reduce school districts’ risk to natural and human-caused disasters.
The federally mandated plan will evaluate the vulnerability of local school sites to potential hazards, according to a news release from the education office.
Completion of the plan will allow districts to receive federal mitigation funding and grants before and after disasters strike.
The education office will host three forums to give community members the chance to provide feedback on the draft plan. They are scheduled for:
Cayucos Elementary School, 301 Cayucos Dr., Cayucos: Jan. 21, 7 p.m.
Morro Road Education Center, 8005 Morro Road, Atascadero: Jan. 22, 7 p.m.
Lucia Mar Unified School District Office, 602 Orchard St., Arroyo Grande: Jan. 23, 7 p.m.
Parents, residents and members of businesses, nonprofits and local government agencies were encouraged to attend.
