An Idaho man, who was named a suspect in connection with his wife's death and the disappearance of their child, was found naked on the side of a road near his dead infant by police this week, authorities said.

On Saturday, the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that Jeremy Albert Best was discovered in a sleeping bag on the side of a road east of Idaho Falls after having made "odd statements" earlier that morning.

A group of hunters reported him to authorities, before sheriff’s deputies identified him as the same man who was wanted by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, police said.

At the scene, authorities located Best's black Chevy SUV down an embarkment, as well as his 10-month-old child, Zeke Best, who was found dead at the scene, authorities said in their release.

Best was then placed in a patrol car, treated by Idaho Falls Ambulance for injuries, and has since been booked in the Bonneville County Jail over his outstanding arrest warrant.

Bonneville County detectives, Idaho State Police and the Teton County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating, with assistance from Idaho Falls Police detectives and the FBI, authorities said.

"Best will remain incarcerated until arraignment before the court," the sheriff's office noted. "Our thoughts are with the family of the victims involved in this case. Further information about this case will be available at an appropriate time in the future as the investigation is still ongoing."

The Teton County Sheriff's Office shared the same statement on its Facebook page on Saturday. The office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for an update on Sunday.

Best's arrest came two days after his wife, Kali Jean Randall, was found unresponsive by Teton County deputies inside their home on Thursday. Her death is being investigated as a homicide after authorities initially received a call when a dispatcher heard a "disturbance" over the line.

Best was named as a suspect in connection with her death, as well as the alleged kidnapping of baby Zeke. Authorities issued an Amber Alert for the infant at the time.

“She was absolutely a genuine beautiful soul,” Kali’s brother Brian Randall told PEOPLE earlier this week of the artist, who previously worked as a veterinarian technician.

Brian confirmed that Kali and Best met in 2009. The brother added that he saw Best as “a normal guy" and he wasn't aware of any conflicts between the couple.

"Sometimes maybe you don't know people," he said.
