Kim Kardashian Paired Princess Diana's Necklace With Very Not-Diana Hair

Kim Kardashian brought a little piece of Princess Diana's personal style to the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala on November 2, but we're not talking about her hairstyle. Though Kardashian has long been a fan of a great bob, her short hairstyle was far more Kim K than classic Di.

Kardashian famously bought the late Princess's antique amethyst Attallah Cross pendant at auction in 2023 and brought it out for the star-studded gala, though she skipped the fluffy short coiffure that Diana made famous in favor of a modern flipped-out bob with a swooped, C-shaped bang hugging one side of her forehead. Kardashian's go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton started with a deep side part and blew the hair out smooth, then added Bellami hair extensions for volume and cut to shoulder length. Appleton flipped out the ends of Kardashian's hair with a 1 ¼" curling iron and finished with shine spray. For the bangs, he curled them into that moon-shaped curl and placed them on her forehead, then sprayed to hold.

For reference, here's Diana in the necklace in 1987. The two could not be wearing more opposite hairstyles, could they? Diana's signature feathery short crop was at its peak in the ‘80s; in the ’90s, she transitioned to a sleeker long pixie style. We probably won't ever see Kardashian in a true Diana hairstyle, but it is fun to imagine her take on the '80s look. The star paired the necklace with a tight, low-cut white Gucci dress and two pearl collars.

Kardashian is always changing up her hairstyles with wigs and extensions, but she's clearly been feeling the flippy bob lately. Though we're not 100 percent sure, it looks to be the hairstyle worn by her character in the upcoming Ryan Murphy series All's Fair, where she plays the owner of an all-female legal firm. And given that the flipped-out bob has been a celeb mainstay for most of 2024, it certainly makes sense that it's the star of the show.
