Kingston cyclist, 90, dead after being hit by vehicle

A 90-year-old Kingston, Ont., man has died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday afternoon.

Hajiasad Ahangarant was riding his bicycle on Highway 15 when he was struck, according to the Ontario Provincial Police, whose officers arrived at the scene just before 1 p.m.

The crash happened between Cunningham and Kingston Mills roads in the city's east end, OPP said.

Ahangarant was seriously injured and was taken to Kingston General Hospital by paramedics, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated, said Sgt. Jennifer Coles, adding that it could take several weeks for investigators to come to a conclusion.
