Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke Hug It Out at the Emmys After Party
Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones co-stars and real-life friends, shared a sweet hug at HBO's Emmys after party last night.
Both stars were nominated in lead acting categories at this year's ceremony, but lost. However, GoT took home the title of Outstanding Drama Series.
Harington also shared an endearing moment with co-star Sophie Turner.
Last night's Emmy Awards ceremony was all about the Game of Thrones reunions. The cast gathered and mingled in their suits and gowns; BFFs Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams joined forces once again; and Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Peter Dinklage proved that they're much closer in real life than the Lannister siblings are onscreen.
But perhaps one of our favorite moments was between Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), who put on a pure, heartwarming display of friendship after the awards show.
The two were seen embracing and chatting during HBO's Emmys after party, making us nostalgic for their scenes together. If only their character's stories on GoT had ended on a happier note. Viewers may recall that—Spoiler Alert!—in the finale, Jon killed Daenerys to stop her from conquering the world. It was a heartbreaking end to their love story, but at least in real life, Harington and Clarke remain close friends.
"Kit and I are counterparts in terms of experience," Clarke told Variety of her bond with Harington earlier this year. "We are pretty much the same age, and our characters have had parallel journeys, and we as actors have had parallel journeys. We’ve both done stupid action movies we regret and fabulous things we’re proud of, and we’ve always come back to Thrones."
Harington added, "I think we’re good mates because we, maybe more than anyone else, know what the other one’s going through a bit." Clarke is also good friends with the actor's wife, Rose Leslie, a fellow GoT alum. The two even traveled to India together this summer.
Harington had a similar exchange with Sophie Turner, AKA Sansa Stark, earlier in the night. The two were captured embracing in the theater, and Turner was seen complimenting her co-star and holding his face in her hands.

Harington was nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Clarke was nominated for Lead Actress for this year's Emmys. They both lost in their respective categories, but they shared a triumphant win with the rest of their cast when Game of Thrones took home the trophy for Outstanding Drama series.
