Kootenay Lake boating accident kills 30-year-old man from Fruitvale, B.C.

A 30-year-old man from Fruitvale, B.C. has died after a boating incident last night on Kootenay Lake, said RCMP.

Police from Kaslo and Creston — on either end of Kootenay Lake — were called out at about 9 p.m. PT last night for a report that a boat had hit a rock near Riondel.

There were four people on board at the time, according to a release from Creston RCMP. The Fruitvale man died on the scene from his injuries, and the other boaters were transported to hospital.
