Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard admitting they’ve been “at each other’s throats” in quarantine is so relatable

For the greater good—and to help thwart the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19)—staying at home is crucial. And although we’re bored and our tempers are getting shorter by the day, we’re trying our best not to complain. People have it much worse than we do, after all. However, we’re definitely not alone in being “at each other’s throats.” Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard went live on Instagram with Katie Couric to talk quarantine and, yeah, it turns out we’re all trying to grin and bear it.

When Couric asked if the pair are getting along okay while stuck at home, both Bell and Shepard laughed before responding.

“We’re getting along good with the kids, and we’re getting along good with the adults we’re friends with,” Shepard responded. “This has been stressful for mama and dada.”

“We’ve been at each other’s throats, real bad, real bad, over the last couple, oh yeah,” Bell said. Shepard chimed in that the strife ended “eight minutes ago.” Bell continued, “This is as physically close as we’ve been in a couple of days. Because we’ve just found each other revolting.”

Yeah. We feel this. Like, we FEEL this.

Later in the interview, Bell and Couric chatted alone until some god-awful screech roared in the background. Couric asked, “What is [Shepard] doing?” and Bell answered, “Just making noises to poke me.”

And although Couric offered some advice—maybe just spend some time apart in the same house?—Bell said it would never work. Shepard is “too loud” and “too big” for that to happen. “He’s everywhere,” Bell sighed. But Shepard wasn’t going to let that go without his own friendly retort.

“America’s sweetheart has some character defects,” Shepard said about his wife before signing off the interview. And honestly, who doesn’t? If you’re not showing your character defects during quarantine, then you may want to question if you’re human or not.

At least Bell and Shepard are having some nice moments in between the “stressful” ones.

We’ve seen the couple wearing matching face masks in bed.

And Bell and their children went dancing in front of Shepard’s window while he was self-isolating after returning from traveling two weeks ago.

We wish the best of luck to both Bell and Shepard—and the rest of the population living with their loved ones—during the rest of this self-quarantine period. We’ll keep trying to find those bright moments amid the stress.
