Kyle Syrenne, former Martensville man, dies after beating on Songhees First Nation

A man originally from Martensville has died on a reserve near Victoria, B.C.

Police said Kyle Syrenne, 26, was beaten on the Songhees First Nation on Saturday. He died two days later.

RCMP said a taxi had just dropped some people off when a fight broke out.

Officers are still trying to identify the people involved.

"We're certainly hoping that these people are going to come forward," West Shore RCMP Constable Alex Berube said. "There's some big repercussions on the victim's family. This is very upsetting for them, and obviously, they want to have answers as to what happened."

Syrenne died from his injuries yesterday.

Police are continuing to investigate.
