Sir Keir Starmer has appointed his new shadow cabinet, replacing many of Jeremy Corbyn's loyalists and balancing it with old faces from Ed Miliband's time as Labour leader.

Most notable is Mr Miliband himself, who returns as shadow business secretary.

Also in the shadow cabinet are Emily Thornberry, shadow international development secretary and Rachel Reeves, the shadow chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

Mr Starmer appointed many of the candidates in the Labour leadership election, including Rebecca Long-Bailey (Education), Lisa Nandy (Foreign) and Rosena Allin-Khan (Mental Health).
