Lady Gaga is known by her loyal fandom as Mother Monster. But when rumours began swirling that the singer was actually set to become a future mom, the Oscar winner squashed them with an even greater surprise: a new album!

With the simplest of tweets on Wednesday (March 12), the “Poker Face” singer shut the whispers down, hinting at her sixth studio album finally coming to fruition: “Rumors I'm pregnant? Yeah, I'm pregnant with #LG6.” The tweet has garnered almost 80,000 retweets and over 300,000 likes. One fan pointed out Lady Gaga had recently followed Rihanna and celebrated producer BloodPop on Instagram, which might indicate a collaboration is in the works.

After Lady Gaga announced her split from ex-fiancé Christian Carino, fans suspected a baby Gaga was on the horizon. There were also rumours of an off-screen romance with her A Star is Born co-star Bradley Cooper. Lady Gaga had something to say about that on the Feb. 26 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live: “First of all... Social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the internet and what it's done to pop culture is abysmal.”

She didn't stop there, and went on to refer to her very intimate Oscars performance with Bradley Cooper. The duo – who played Jackson and Ally Maine in the fourth remake of A Star is Born – ignited the internet and left many across the globe swooning when they took to the Academy Awards stage to perform “Shallow,” the film's hit song. “People saw love and, guess what, that's what we wanted you to see. This is a love song," Lady Gaga said.

The tune has been raking in the accolades this past awards season. It took home a Golden Globe, an Oscar, two GRAMMYs and a Critics' Choice Award. That puts Lady Gaga closer to joining the EGOT club, which already counts Barbra Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn and more as members.

#LG6 will be the performer's sixth studio album. It is her first in three years since she released Joanne, which featured hit singles “Perfect Illusion,” “Million Reasons” and the title track.
