February 27, 2020: Michael Polansky's Ex Writes Viral Piece On Finding Out Your Former Partner Is Dating Lady Gaga

We can all relate to having a little pry into our ex's new partner, right?

Whether it's a guilty Instagram peek or a looking them up on Facebook, it's pretty much universally accepted to find out more about the person your ex has moved on, with regardless of the circumstances around your break up or if you have moved on yourself or not. A combination of curiosity, intrigue and other factors just takes us to their Instagram profile, whether we like it or not.

However, imagine if you didn't need to actively try to find out what the deal was with your ex's new flame because they were a world famous global icon. Imagine if your ex became Lady Gaga's boyfriend?

Well, that's what happened to the New York Times staff editor Lindsay Crouse, who has revealed the absurdity of the situation she found herself in recently when news that Lady Gaga had a new boyfriend travelled far and wide and she very much recognised the 'mystery man' in the photos.

Revealing that she dated the man in question for seven years - Crouse doesn't identify him but he is reported to be investor Michael Polansky - she explains how her phone went crazy with texts and calls from old friends asking if she'd seen the reports when her ex was first linked to the 'Born This Way' singer after the Super Bowl earlier this month.

'I scrolled through Instagram and saw a post from Lady Gaga: She was sitting in her new boyfriend's lap,' Crouse writes for the New York Times. 'Friends from college liked it - along with nearly three million others.'

Crouse goes on to explain that it is human nature which leads people to compare themselves against an ex's new significant other but, 'in this case, that's all upended. How do you compare yourself with Lady Gaga?'

Refreshingly, Crouse has learned a valuable and positive lesson from her ex moving on with a hugely admired, formidable and successful woman.

'Lady Gaga is amazing,' the editor notes. 'Comparing yourself with her is incredibly motivational and I recommend you try it, regardless of how you relate to who's dating her.'

Crouse explains how this new found motivation led her to indulge in buying a brand new dress, slightly above her budget, because 'why should I accept less than Lady Gaga?' This motivation also led her purchase a large coffee rather than her usual medium, and forward a praiseful email to her boss.

A lesson that even if our ex isn't dating an Oscar-winning star, we can all learn from Crouse's wise words.
