Lafontaine Tunnel northbound shut for Thanksgiving weekend

The Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine Tunnel will be partially closed this Thanksgiving weekend to undergo repairs.

Transports Québec says the northbound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Monday.

Drivers heading into Montreal from the South Shore will need to find an alternative route to the Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine Tunnel.

Monitoring and drainage equipment will be added to the interior of the tunnel that links Montreal to the South Shore.

Officials said the tunnel has had minor water infiltration during the winter months since it was built in 1967.
