Lancaster County SC deputy, K-9 involved in three-car Indian Land crash

A Lancaster County deputy and his K-9 companion were involved in a car crash Wednesday in Indian Land south of the North Carolina state line.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 521 and Possum Hollow Road, according to Lancaster County emergency management officials and Doug Barfield, spokesman for the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. Three vehicles were involved.

The deputy, who was on duty in a marked Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, and the dog are expected to be OK, Barfield said. Other injuries in the crash aren’t clear.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the collision, according to county officials. No other information about the crash or the other vehicles involved has been released.
