Landslide in Canada forces suspension of Amtrak trains between Seattle and Vancouver

A landslide has covered the railroad tracks near White Rock, British Columbia, forcing suspension of all rail service between Seattle and Vancouver, according Amtrak.

The railway is expected to resume normal operation around noon Friday, Dec. 20. In the meantime, bus transport is being provided as an alternative.

Thursday, Dec. 19:

  • Customers traveling north on train 516 will be provided alternate bus transportation to Vancouver, B.C.

  • Customers traveling south on train 517 will be provided alternate bus transportation between Vancouver, B.C., and Seattle.

  • Customers traveling north on train 518 will be provided alternate bus transportation between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.

  • Customers traveling south on train 519 will be provided alternate bus transportation to Seattle.

Friday, Dec. 20:

  • Customers traveling south on train 517 will be provided alternate bus transportation between Vancouver, B.C., and Seattle.

  • Customers traveling north on train 516 will be held in Bellingham, Washington for an open track.
