Lane restrictions on I-55/70 in Madison County will stall traffic. Here’s what to know
The two left lanes on northbound I-55/70 will be closed at Mile Marker 4 in Madison — weather permitting — beginning at 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 19, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.
All exit and entrance ramps at Exit 4 will remain open during these restrictions.
These closures are necessary to perform emergency bridge deck patching on northbound I-55/70 over the drainage canal. It is estimated all lanes will reopen by 3 p.m. Friday, according to an IDOT release.
IDOT warns that motorists can expect delays and should allow for extra time or map out alternate routes.
