Large waves as storm Teddy lashes U.S

The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned of large swells caused by post-tropical cyclone Teddy as it moved over the Atlantic Ocean towards Canada's Nova Scotia on Tuesday (September 22).

Video shared with Reuters showed massive waves crashing on Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, as Teddy hovered about 180 km (112 miles) southeast of the state.

The post tropical cyclone, which was downgraded from hurricane status by the NHC on Tuesday night, is expected to bring heavy rains and destructive waves to Nova Scotia through Wednesday (September 23), the weather agency said on its

Twitter page.

The agency also said that Teddy is expected to approach the Canadian province below hurricane strength at about 80 mph (129 km/h) as it continues northeastwards towards Newfoundland.
