LaSalle police warn public of possible cougar sighting

LaSalle police have issued a public warning after two people reported seeing what they thought was a large cougar walking behind homes in a suburban part of town Wednesday morning.

The animal, which is described as being tan coloured and about three feet tall and five feet long, was seen roaming into the bushes located on the border of LaSalle and Windsor.

Officers later investigated and found large tracks from an animal that fit the description from residents, said Const. Harbinder Gill. The officers followed the tracks into the forested area, but eventually lost the tracks.

Police warn all residents to stay away from the animal if they encounter it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact LaSalle police at 519-969-5210.
