Information on salmonella

Salmonella outbreak case counts often are much higher than the illnesses officially counted by the CDC because most illnesses last four to seven days of vomiting, diarrhea and stomachaches then clear up without need of a medical professional. Salmonella hits about 1.35 million people in the United States each year, hospitalizing around 26,400 people, usually with bloody diarrhea. The worst effects, including the rare death, tend to be felt by adults over 65 and children under 5.
