Launching a Friday night online get-together

JunCtian Community Initiatives is launching a series of Friday night virtual gatherings for people in the area.

“We’re going to have a musical night,” said president Joan John. “We’re going to have performances from each singer – in different genres. We’ll have greetings from the Mayor and CAO and council.”

“There is going to be a focus on keeping people together and having something to look forward to on Friday evening.”

As it’s hard to connect with people these days, Ms John decided to launch the idea, and hopefully attract future participants in the process.

Her non-profit has recently moved to Southgate from the Brampton-Mississauga area, and is trying to play a role in connecting people during these "isolating" times.

So for this first time, there will be area performers Debbie Bechamp and Robert Iantorno, along with a couple friends of JunCtian from its days in the Brampton area.

As well, the Starz of Southgate evening will include a motivational talk and performance from Juno-award winning vocalist Liberty Silver.

“If people want to dance in their living room or dress up that’s all great!” Joan said.

“Now that they see it, if they want to perform on the next one, we ask them to please send their information to me,”

“We’re going to do this not just in the form of music. We’re going to do cook-along – and get a chef. We’ll all be cooking together.”
