Laura Dern Opens Up About Filming 'Lonely Planet' Sex Scenes With Liam Hemsworth
Time to pause your weekly viewing of The Idea of You because Lonely Planet has ARRIVED. In case you're new here, the film stars Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth as Katherine Loewe and Owen Brophy, an unlikely couple who meet at an idyllic writers retreat in Morocco and start what Deadline describes as "an intoxicating, life-altering love affair."
I mean, truly didn't realize my life needed a romance staring Laura and Liam, but it clearly did. And when it comes to their sex scenes, Laura tells People that Liam was "literally the safest person I could ever talk through everything in my life with." She added, “By the time we were doing those scenes, there was nothing we couldn’t talk about together and work out creatively, professionally, all of that. But we also had a lot of support. We had much, much discussion.”
Laura confirmed that they worked with an intimacy coordinator on set, and noted that it's "incredible...that film and filmmaking have changed so that everyone is comfortable in their voice and can set boundaries comfortably without fear of losing a job or being unpopular."
Meanwhile, Liam said that he and Laura became super close while filming: "There were times when we were shooting in the Marrakesh markets where we couldn't even see the camera....We were completely immersed in it. The whole experience of filming was that it just felt like we were hanging out and it was getting captured at the same time."
