50 years after she started modelling, Lauren Hutton is still stealing the show.

This year, she walked the runway for Valentino during Paris Fashion Week wearing a green dress, orange boots and bright red gloves.

In an industry ill-famed for its ageism, a modelling career spanning five decades is quite the achievement.

Lauren Hutton has shared some of her best-kept beauty secrets that have afforded her such as illustrious career.

“As we age, women can be good-looking and vibrant in every way.” She told PEOPLE magazine.

And how does she go about maintaining those good looks? “A good man, and certainly don’t give up sex—because that’s just silly.”

If the idea of finding a good man isn’t your cup of tea, Lauren has plenty more where that came from.

She also credits “laughing, reading and being in nature” as her best beauty tips.

She’s quite the minimalist when it comes to the products she uses on her face, using coconut oil for nourishing her hair and skin.

“I used to use a lot of coconut oil. I put that in my hair and all over my body. And then don’t use too much makeup.”

You might already use coconut oil for cooking, but it’s said to have many beauty benefits too: the versatile product is perfect for applying to split ends, keeping the skin moisturised throughout the day, or even as a make-up remover in a fix.

A handbag-sized coconut oil from Vita Coco is currently on sale for just one pound on the Holland & Barrett website.

In fact, her beauty routine has been quite a pivotal part of her career. Lauren was the first person, in 1973, to demand a cosmetics contract.

That contract with Revlon was worth over £200,000, the equivalent of over £1 million in today’s money.

At 41, she was fired from that contract after being told by the Revlon vice president that women over 41 don’t wear make up.

In the words of Julia Roberts: big mistake, huge.

Lauren wasn’t prepared to disappear quietly from the industry and she fought back, reigniting her modelling career in her late forties.
