Laval, Que., man killed in South Glengarry highway rollover

A 53-year-old man from Laval, Que., was killed after the car he was driving was involved in a crash with an SUV on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township Thursday night.

Ontario Provincial Police said a 2015 Dodge SUV was travelling in the eastbound lanes when it collided with a 2005 Cadillac, which rolled over into the westbound lanes around 8:15 p.m.

The driver of the Cadillac, 53-year-old Alain Haddad, was killed while his male passenger suffered minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old man from Mississauga, Ont., was not injured in the crash, nor were his two female passengers, police said.

A section of the westbound lanes of Highway 401 was closed for several hours but has since re-opened, police said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. South Glengarry is about 100 kilometres southeast of downtown Ottawa.
