Lecce says he doesn’t ‘believe’ government could have met CUPE’s demands

Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce said Monday, after tabling back-to-work legislation in Queen’s Park, that he doesn’t believe there was “any way for the government to get to the demands” from the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). The union has requested an 11 per cent increase in wages per year, citing the high cost of living and historically low pay.
