Lena Dunham Will Paint a Mural In Your Home in Support of Union Solidarity

Would you like to have Girls writer and star Lena Dunham bless your walls with a mural she painted herself? The actor-writer-producer will do just that, if you outbid everyone else vying for the opportunity on eBay. Dunham is one of the many Hollywood A-listers placing their time and talents up for auction in support of The Union Solidarity Coalition, formed by a group of writers and directors on strike who are raising funds to cover the costs of crew health care. In addition to some of the more meet-and-greet-adjacent opportunities, like a crossword puzzle date with Natasha Lyonne, the star-studded offerings include tons of home decor possibilities as well.

In your family room, you could proudly display the watercolor portrait John Lithgow paints of your dog or have a ceramic item made by Busy Philipps sitting on your mantelpiece (that is, if you both decide to swap ceramics after the pottery class for two you’ll be taking in New York City together.) And if you submit the highest bid for the neon “Queen Mary” sign from the television series Transparent, you could have a piece of Hollywood history to hang over that drinks-only corner in the kitchen. A standard blue apron à la The Bear is also up for grabs, though one might be less inclined to subject it to the messiness of the kitchen given that it’s signed by the stars of the Hulu show and, at time of press, going for $2,025. Auctions for most of the items appear to be scheduled to close September 22.

The writers and actors participating in the auction are banding together for a cause: Back in May, the Writers’ Guild of America went on strike when negotiations around labor and fair pay with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers stalled. Hollywood heavyweights like Tina Fey and Pete Davidson have been striking with their writing colleagues since picketing began and members of the Screen Actors Guild have now joined in a strike of their own, as labor talks with studios have come to a cold halt.
