The ace is still out there: Courtney Noseworthy wins $172K consolation, draw continues in 2 weeks

Chase the Ace mania in the Goulds will continue.

Courtney Noseworthy, of Bay Roberts, had the winning ticket this week, but drew the six of clubs.

She narrowly missed drawing an ace and going home with the grand prize of $1,135,323.

Instead, she went home with a consolation prize of $172,368.

"I didn't realize. I kept reading the ticket. I'm like, no, this is not right, not at all. But it is," she said shortly after the draw.

"You buy a $20 ticket, you're good. It all worked out for me."

50/50 winner takes home over $200K

Meanwhile, Ralph Seaward went home victorious with $226,612 in the 50/50 draw.

After collecting his prize, he quickly darted out of the building with his cheque in hand and was unable to be reached for interview.

Only 11 cards now remain in the deck at the St. Kevin's Parish fundraiser, which has attracted massive crowds to the neighbourhood.

Many people in the crowd, like Frank Hutchings who "felt it in his heart" that he'd win, went home disappointed.

But there's a good chance they'll be back when the draw resumes in two weeks, following a break for the Royal St. John's Regatta.

The grand prize total then is expected to be well over $1,000,000.
