Liam Gallagher Unimpressed by “Saturday Night Live” Oasis Skit: 'Are They Meant to Be Comedians'
The younger Gallagher brother called his "Weekend Update" impersonation "excruciating"
This one will certainly not be living forever in Liam Gallagher's mind.
On Sunday, Oct. 13, the 52-year-old Oasis singer-songwriter sounded off on X (formerly Twitter) about the latest Saturday Night Live skit featuring impersonations himself and his bandmate/brother Noel.
In the latest edition of "Weekend Update," the Gallagher brothers were portrayed by SNL's James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman, in a skit that pokes fun at the pair's Manchester accents, apparent use of the word "legend" and their decades-long feud, while quoting "Wonderwall" a few times in the process.
But after a fan asked Liam what he thought of the impression the next morning, he only responded with one word.
"Excruciating," the Oasis star wrote on X.
In a follow-up post, another fan told Liam that the show "did you dirty," to which he responded: "I wouldn’t expect anything else from them."
"Are they meant to be comedians," he wrote of Johnson and Sherman to another Oasis supporter.
Liam also responded to one fan who claimed that he and his brother were "a thousand times funnier than" the SNL impressions. "Exactly," he wrote.
Even though the Gallagher brother may not have been a fan of Johnson and Sherman's impressions, Sherman, 31, appeared to appreciate his honesty. Responding to the Oasis member's "are they meant to be comedians" post, the SNL star seemed to take his comments in stride. "LEGEND 🙌 !!!!!!!!" she wrote.
Oasis is set to kick off its comeback tour at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on July 4 and 5, after announcing the reunion shows in August. The long-anticipated Oasis Live '25 reunion tour will hit multiple stadiums across the U.K. and Ireland next summer, before making its way to North America in August.
The reunion news came 15 years after the Gallagher brothers famously broke up in 2009. “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,” Oasis said in a statement on Aug. 27.

Despite the brothers intending on hitting the road together, Liam confirmed on social media last week that the pair will not be participating in joint interviews to promote the run of shows. He shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Oct. 10.
"We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship," he reasoned at the time.
Oasis will kick off its U.S. run at Toronto's Rogers Stadium on Aug. 24, 2025 and wrap up in Mexico City at Estadio GNP Seguros on Sept. 12.
