Spectacular Lightning Strikes Captured in Missoula County

Montana resident Andrea Hopkin captured video of multiple lightning strikes during a thunderstorm that moved through Missoula County on August 2.

The National Weather Service in Missoula advised residents to stay indoors during storms that were producing intense lightning with winds of up to 40 mph and hail in much of southwest Montana.

In the caption of the video, Hopkin stated that she slowed the camera down to 1/8 of the frame speed and was “shocked” to witness the number of lightning strikes. Credit: Andrea Hopkin via Storyful
