Lil Nas X had a hilarious response after his post about being pregnant with an album sparked a backlash.
The US rapper announced his new music with a picture showing him pregnant, writing that he was expecting a “little bundle of joy” called Montero.
Most fans were amused by the novel way the star shared his news, but others said on social media that it was “offensive” and accused him of “going too far”. Some said they were annoyed because the rapper was “using pregnancy as a prop”.
However, Lil Nas was undeterred, joking in response: “Let me get offline, all of this negative energy is not good for the baby.”
The star shared his album news on social media this week.
The ‘pregnancy shoot’ saw him dressed in flowing white trousers and a white robe, with a bouquet of flowers in his hand and a wreath of flowers on his head.
The singer kneeled by a pool as he cradled his ‘bump’.
“SURPRISE!” he wrote.
“I can’t believe I’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy ‘MONTERO’ is due September 17, 2021.”
The rapper – whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill – is known for tracks such as Old Town Road, Sun Goes Down, Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Industry Baby.
Montero will be the 22-year-old’s first studio album.
