Lisa Surihani dances again after 10 years

The actress had to watch her food intake and stay fit in order to dance again after a decade

Lisa Surihani is now more selective of her roles after becoming a mother.

17 Nov – Actress Lisa Surihani recently revealed that in order to portray Shila in her latest movie, "Sinaran", she had to go on a diet and watch her food intake.

It was done so that she was able to keep her body fit and energised – a must to pull off the performances required for all the dance scenes in the movie.

"Before filming started, I had to go on a diet and watch what I eat. I only ate nutritious food so that my body will be fit enough for the dance scenes," said the actress to Cinema Online during the premiere of "Sinaran" at GSC Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The actress, who also previously starred in "Suamiku Encik Perfect 10", stated that one of the biggest challenges for her was dancing again after ten long years.

However, it was a good and fun experience for her, Lisa added. With practice and guidance from the dance teacher, she was able to do it despite having been inactive in dancing for the past decade.

The wife to director and actor Yusry Abdul Halim also shared her excitement of working together with the nation's jazz queen, Datuk Sheila Majid, even though the latter only appeared for a cameo role.

Talking about her new motherhood, Lisa, who gave birth to daughter Yahaira Leanne last September, said that she would be more selective of future acting offers now that she has become a mother. The offers will have to fit into her schedule and status as a mother.

Apart from Lisa, other stars who are also part of the upcoming Osman Ali movie include Indonesian actors Izara Aishah and Evan Sanders, as well as Singaporean actors Syarif Sleeq and Nadiah M Din.

"Sinaran" opens in cinemas this 22 November.
