Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall will miss Little Mix The Search's first live show this weekend as she is currently self-isolating, the BBC show has confirmed.

Jade and her bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson were all due to be live in the studio on Saturday (October 24) to continue their talent competition.

But the show has released a statement via its official Twitter account to reveal that Jade will be taking part via video link this week as she is in self-isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Jade has to self-isolate this week and will therefore be carrying out her role as Mentor on Little Mix The Search from home. For this Saturday's show, Jade will participate via video link, continuing to mentor alongside Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Perrie," the statement reads.

The reason for Jade's self-isolation has not been confirmed but people who come into contact with someone who has recently tested positive for the virus usually have to isolate at home for 14 days as a precaution.

Fans sent their well wishes to Jade, who has so far not spoken about being in isolation.

The Search has seen the hugely successful girl group, who celebrate a decade together next year after winning The X Factor in 2011, put together six bands in six different styles – rap and R&B, boyband, vocal and instruments, girl vocal, mixed group and girl dance.

We are now heading into the live shows, which will see the bands battle it out to be crowned the winner and to secure the chance to join Little Mix on their 2021 Confetti tour.

The live shows had been due to begin last Saturday (October 17) but this was postponed after members of the show's production crew tested positive for COVID-19.

"We can confirm that a small number of people on the Little Mix The Search production have tested positive for coronavirus and they are now self-isolating following the latest government guidelines," the show said in a statement.

"Due to the format of the show we have made the decision to postpone Saturday's programme. There are rigorous protocols in place to manage COVID-19 as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount."

The band also recently revealed that their sixth studio album Confetti will be released on November 6.

Little Mix The Search continues this Saturday (October 24) on BBC One.
