A little relief at the pump, as gas prices take another dip

Small dip at the pumps as gas prices adjusted for Thursday

Drivers across Newfoundland and Labrador got a second consecutive cut in gas prices Thursday, as the province's fuels regulator ordered retailers to cut prices slightly.

The Public Utilities Board lowered the limit on maximum prices for all grades of gas by up to 1.67 cents a litre.

That marks the second week in a row that gas prices have dropped, for a cumulative decrease of 5.3 cents.

Thursday's setting means that a litre of self-serve unleaded gas on the Avalon Peninsula, where prices have been cheapest, can now sell for no more than $1.363.

Earlier this month, gas prices hit their highest mark since June 2014.

While gas prices are down, the cost of diesel is up, with a hike of half a cent per litre.

Furnace oil has dropped by 0.71 cents a litre.
