Fugitive lawyer Charles Yeo in UK custody, awaiting extradition hearing
Fugitive lawyer Charles Yeo is in the custody of the UK and is awaiting an extradition hearing.
Yeo, the former chairman of Reform Party, fled Singapore after criminal charges were filed against him. He was handed three charges under the Protection from Harassment Act for harassing communication to a police officer and three charges for deliberately intending to wound religious feelings.
The UK court told CNA that Yeo is due to attend a bail hearing on 15 Nov, and that a date for his full extradition hearing has yet to be set.
In 2022, Yeo was given permission to travel to Vietnam for work but failed to return to Singapore. He then announced on Instagram that he was seeking "political asylum" in the UK.
According to CNA, the UK government said it doesn't comment on individual cases and it's unclear if political asylum was granted.

PSLE results to be released on 20 Nov
The results for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) will be released next Wednesday (20 Nov) at 11am, according to a press release by the Ministry of Education (MOE).
Students will collect their results from their schools and collection details will be shared by their respective schools. For those who are unable to return to their schools to collect the results, they may appoint a proxy to do so on their behalf by Friday (22 Nov).
MOE encouraged students to consider secondary schools holistically and choose one that will fit their education needs, strengths, and interests. This includes considering factors such as school culture, distinctive programmes, subject offerings, and co-curricular activities.
They also pointed out that the schools' cut-off points (COPs) from last year's Secondary 1 posting exercise are only a reference and may vary from year to year.
"Students are encouraged to include at least two to three schools within their six school choices with COPs that are less stringent than their PSLE score," they added.
For students who are "more inclined towards practice-oriented, hands-on learning", they can consider Crest Secondary School and Spectra Secondary School. These schools offer an alternative educational pathway for students eligible for Posting Group 1 only or the Posting Group 1/2 Option Band.
MOE wrote, "The schools offer a customised skills-based curriculum and exposure to unique learning opportunities, putting students in good stead for progression to the Institute of Technical Education."
Eligible students will receive an S1 Option Form to select their secondary schools along with their PSLE results.
A unique identification key can be found on the top-right corner of the form which students can use to submit their school selections online.
The posting results will be released between Wednesday (18 Dec) to Friday (20 Dec) and can be accessed via SMS (if a mobile phone number was provided), online, or at the student's primary school.
For more information on the release of PSLE results and the posting exercise, read here.

John Krasinski named People's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive
John Krasinski has been crowned People's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive.
His reaction to snagging the title? "Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts," he told People magazine.
While many might know him as the 'adorkable' paper salesman Jim (from The Office), Krasinski has gradually been cementing his A-list status in Hollywood.
He cowrote, directed and starred alongside wife Emily Blunt in the 2018 thriller A Quiet Place. Then, he got ripped for Michael Bay's 13 Hours, and maintained that superhero physique to play Jack Ryan in the titular Prime Video series.
His transition to being one of Hollywood's top filmmakers took a while as executives saw him only as Jim from the office.
Krasinski shared, "I’m pretty sure someone said, ‘Sorry, is Jim from The Office going to direct this (A Quiet Place)?’ And I went, ‘Oh, it’s John, but we’ll get there.’"
Meanwhile, Blunt, has said she'd wallpaper the house with the cover if he actually got the title and was "very excited" when she heard the big news.
The actor also said that the title won't change anything. He quipped, "I think it's going to make me do more household chores."

Trump had previously proposed the creation of this commission in early September as a way to look into and reduce government spending of "trillions of dollars".
"This commission will develop an action plan to totally eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months," he said then.
The work of the department will end no later than July 4, 2026.
