Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Year and Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in the running for the player award.

The champions have the most candidates for the annual player honour, with Kevin De Bruyne, Jamie Vardy, Danny Ings and Nick Pope also in the running.

Alexander-Arnold is also nominated in the inaugural Young Player Of The Season award, along with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Dean Henderson, Jack Grealish, Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount. This award is for players under 23 at the start of the 2019/20 campaign. All awards are voted for by fans online.

Klopp will be expected to win the managers’ award after guiding Liverpool to their first title in 30 years and finishing with 99 points, 18 ahead of Manchester City in second place.

Frank Lampard is also nominated after Chelsea’s top-four finish, while Chris Wilder is on the shortlist for Sheffield United’s high-flying first season following promotion from the Championship. Brendan Rodgers is the fourth contender for Leicester’s campaign which finished with Europa League qualification.

Liverpool players have won the previous two awards but Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah have not been nominated this year. Henderson won the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award and will be one of the favourites for the PFA award too after skippering the title-winning team and for his work off the pitch helping to raise money for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mane scored 18 Premier League goals for Klopp’s team - which was less than Salah - and Alexander-Arnold was one of Liverpool’s key performers with his delivery from right-back. There was no place for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Raheem Sterling, who also scored more goals than Mane during the campaign.

In the Young Player of the Season award, there was no place for Bukayo Saka, Dwight McNeil or Declan Rice.
