Lizzo Makes an Elegant Entrance at the 2020 Grammys in White Gown and Fur Boa

As expected, Lizzo is looking “Good as Hell” at the 2020 Grammys.

The superstar singer — and first-time nominee — arrived in true Lizzo fashion wearing a head-turning glamorous white outfit that channeled her love of music industry icons like Diana Ross and Cher.

The singer, 31, wore a strapless white Versace gown with sweetheart-style neckline, featuring sparkly silver beading throughout. She teamed the look with an elegant white feathery stole and white crystal-adorned strappy heels, plus $2 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry including a double strand diamond necklace, custom diamond earrings and diamond rings.

She kept her beauty look classic — with dewy makeup and classic curly waves.

The nominee’s makeup artist of almost three years, Alexx Mayo, says the glam squad “wanted to channel icons of the past old Hollywood [and] wanted her to look like the best version of herself.”

Mayo says their process “all starts with wardrobe imagining what character we want to play up today. It really is a paint as you go.”

To start what he hopes will go down as a “classic, timeless look” Mayo used an exfoliating device — Dermaflash Luxe — to remove any dead skin. “The device offers a treamtment you’d normally have to go to the spa to get,” he says. Next, he “made sure her skin was intensively hydrated before applying any product.” The pro used Versed skin care, before applying Urban Decay’s All Nighter Face Primer (so her makeup wouldn’t budge) and the brand’s Stay Naked Foundation.

Mayo says he loves “so many of her features” but really enjoys “playing up her cheeks.” On them, he applied Urban Decay’s Stay Naked Threesome palette.

While the pro created her flawless look, Mayo says his client helps keep the mood upbeat. When she’s not catching up on emails or TikTok (!), “we do sing-alongs together” he says.

And he adds that he can tell Lizzo’s happy with the final look “just by the way she looks at herself in the mirror.”

Inspired by Lizzo’s eight nominations, manicurist Eri Ishizu created a glitter “8” design on each nail. See our exclusive close-up, below!

After priming her nails with Christian Louboutin Loubi Primer, Ishizu applied The Nudes in Madame Est Nue “for a cream base with a subtle sheen”. Next, she used the brand’s Metallinudes in Goldissima to create “subtle 8s” on Lizzo’s nails “symbolic of her eight Grammy nominations”.

The finishing touch? A dangling crystal design on the end of each nails, and Christian Louboutin Loubi Gloss top coat “to seal the manicure and give a patent leather-like shine”.
