Lockdowns lifted after unfounded threats received by two Rocklin Unified elementary schools
Two Rocklin Unified School District elementary campuses were locked down Friday after threats that were ultimately deemed not credible by police, according to the district.
Both Valley View and Rocklin elementary schools were placed on lockdown about 1:30 p.m. as police responded to the campuses, according to a message sent to parents. Parents arriving to pick up children were asked to avoid the schools as threats were investigated.
Rocklin police determined about 40 minutes later that the threats were unfounded, the district said in a social media post. Students were released from school at their regular dismissal times less than an hour later, after both campuses were briefly under shelter-in-place orders as a precaution.
No arrests have been announced by police. It was unclear what the threats entailed.
