London police issue warning about counterfeit money

Police are warning the public about counterfeit Canadian cash circulating in London.

Fake $20, $50 and $100 bills that replicate those printed between 1969 and 1979 are appearing in the community, according to the financial crimes unit with London police.

The Scenes of Canada bank note series are still valid bank notes, but they are out of circulation.

"Retailers should be highly suspicious of any individual, who presents [this] style of bills for payment of a retail purchase," police said in a news release.
