The Londoner: Biden should give Trump a pardon, says Anthony Scaramucci

Anthony Scaramucci, Donald Trump’s former press secretary, who now campaigns against him, says he thinks if Joe Biden wins he should pardon Trump.

“Pardon the son of a b**** and his family. Call Andrew Cuomo and Letitia James from New York, get his ass pardoned up there as well,” Scaramucci told an event hosted by London-based Portland Communications.

If he leaves office, Trump may face investigation over a number of issues, including soliciting campaign donations from foreign nationals — claims which he denies. And State authorities in New York are looking into the Trump family’s business practices. In May, Biden said if he was elected he wouldn’t halt any federal investigations or pardon Trump.

Scaramucci, who became notorious after serving as Trump’s press secretary for just 11 days in 2017, told the event Trump might lose and threaten to pull out “the dynamite plunger” if he isn’t pardoned.

Not that Scaramucci is a fan. He told interviewer Alastair Campbell: “I’d like to take Trump lights out in a prize fight. He went after my wife. You’re not allowed to do that, I’m an Italian-American. Let’s go.”

Munroe Bergdorf hopes to open a centre for trans youths “as the services that we have are so overrun and under-supported”. The model and activist, who is herself trans, said: “It’s my dream to start a resource centre for young trans people in London.” She also told Italian Vogue: “It’s difficult to be one of the very few black trans people in the UK media, our experience is so unique, it can be sometimes very isolating, especially being under such a magnifying glass.”

THE war over graffiti claiming Gary Sambrook “eats big dinners” continues. After the Birmingham MP complained about the paint, which was next to another reading “scum”, both have now disappeared. But the first still tickles locals. A source tells The Londoner Mr Sambrook’s office “happens to be right next door to The Bulls Head pub” which has “some very enticing ‘big dinners’ for sale”. Tuck in?

THE Department for International Trade got itself into a tizz yesterday, claiming our new trade deal with Japan will mean soya source “will be made cheaper”. Unfortunately trade expert David Henig pointed out the current tariff was zero per cent (as it will be under the new deal). The DIT then tried to argue it would be six per cent under WTO rules. This morning they clarified: "Thanks to the UK-Japan trade deal, soya sauce will be cheaper than it otherwise would be under WTO terms, on which we would be trading with Japan from 1 Jan if we had not secured the UK-Japan trade deal."
