Police defend human trafficking sting operation

Police in St. John's are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a convenience store on Topsail Road.

Officers were called to the west end store just before 3 a.m. Friday.

A man, armed with a knife, entered the store and demanded cash, before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount.

He's described as five foot eight with a slim build and was reportedly wearing a thin grey winter jacket, black jogging pants and a snowmobiling-type mask at the time.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary used a K-9 unit in a search for the suspect, but he wasn't found.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
